The Buddy Walk is more than just a walk — it’s a celebration of love, acceptance, and the incredible individuals who make our community stronger. Every step we take together helps raise vital funds to support programs, resources, and opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and their families right here in the Grand Strand.
History of the
Buddy Walk
The Buddy Walk was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) to promote awareness, acceptance, and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Today, it is celebrated across hundreds of communities nationwide, bringing together friends, families, and advocates to show the world the value of every life.
